about me

Bihi Imiswane

When I was six years old, I decided to become a goat herder, instead of going to school. Goats are kind of special in Morocco, because of their love for Argan nuts. Argan nuts grow on trees, and so, in order to reach their favourite meal, the goats need to climb up the trees. Tree-climbing goats are of course a great attraction –for Moroccans and even more so for the many tourists who visit my country.

The village in which I grew up lies right at the main road leading from Essouira and Agadir. This means that many tourists pass by my village every day. And my climbing goats ended up on many photographs.

Through my contact with all the tourists I ended up learning many different languages (French, English, some Spanish and German). And often they asked me to join them on their surfing trips. Primarily so I could show them the way to Imssouane, which was hard to find back then. But sometimes I was invited to join them on a surf board. This is how I came into contact with my greatest passion – riding waves.

The first money I earned through my tree-climbing goats went towards my own surf board. As of then, nothing could stop me!

I live my dream

In 2010, I had the opportunity to lease a piece of land. On that, I built my own surf/restaurant wooden hut. My kitchen is open all day, offering delicious specialities like the Berber omelette and of course also fish, which I buy fresh at the local market every morning. I serve my dishes grilled, or in the traditional Tajin – a absoluter treat!

In 2017, I completed my surf-instructor certificate. In my surf courses, I teach surfing passionately and patiently.

I am happy to show you my land and give you an insight into my culture and my way of life. For example, I can show you the traditional way that Argan oil is produced, or take you out for a ride on a donkey. I try my best to meet your individual needs and desires.
